The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Miguel Ángel Espinoza Garza, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Monterrey, as coadjutor bishop of the diocese of La Paz en la Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Espinoza Garza was born on 26 April 1966 in San Nicolás de los Garza. He attended the Monterrey Seminary, and was ordained a priest on 15 August 1991 and incardinated in the same archdiocese.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar; rector of the Residence of the Pontifical University of Mexico; coordinator of vocational pastoral care of the archdiocese of Monterrey; formator in the minor seminary of the diocese of La Paz de la Baja California Sur; parish priest and episcopal vicar for pastoral care.
He is currently parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Fátima, member of the pastoral council and director of the Diocesan Commission for the Administration of Assets.

The Holy Father has appointed the distinguished Professor Sabina Alkire, director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) of the Department of International Development of the University of Oxford, Great Britain, as member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

The distinguished Professor Sabina Alkire was born in 1969 in Göttingen, Germany. She was awarded a doctorate in economics from the Social Sciences Division of Madgalen College, University of Oxford, Great Britain, in 1999. She is professor of Poverty and Human Development at the same University. She has received various honours and awards, including the Royal Government of Bhutan Award. She is the author of numerous publications.
