Meeting with young people at “Notre Dame College” in Dhaka
At 15.00 local time (10.00 in Rome), the Holy Father Francis left the apostolic nunciature and travelled by car to Notre Dame College in Dhaka for the meeting with young people in the sports field.
Upon arrival, after greeting the young people gathered in the sports field, the Pope was received by the bishop of Barisal and head of youth pastoral ministry, H.E. Msgr. Subroto Howlader, C.S.C., by the rector of the University and the director of the “Notre Dame College”. The Holy Father then blessed the first stone of the new building of “Notre Dame University Bangladesh”, and a commemorative plaque.
After a welcome dance and hymn, followed by greetings from the bishop of Rajshahi and vice president of the Episcopal Conference of Bangladesh, H.E. Msgr. Gervas Rozario, there were several hymns, dances and testimonies from young people. Pope Francis then addressed those present.
At the end of the meeting, after greetings from the archbishop of Dhaka, Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, the Holy Father transferred by car Dhaka International Airport for his official farewell from Bangladesh.
