The Holy Father Francis has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Bouar, Central African Republic, presented by H.E. Msgr. Armando Umberto Gianni, O.F.M. Cap.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of the same diocese the Rev. Mirosław Gucwa, of the clergy of the diocese of Tarnów, Poland, currently vicar general of the diocese of Bouar.
Rev. Mirosław Gucwa
The Rev. Mirosław Gucwa was born on 21 November 1963 in Pisarzowa, diocese of Tarnów, Poland. He completed his secondary school studies in Tarnów, and then entered the diocesan seminary. He studied philosophy and theology at the major seminary of Tarnów, obtaining a licentiate in theology.
He was ordained a priest on 12 June 1988.
Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar in Grybów/Tarnów, Poland (1988-1992); pastor of the parish of Sainte Jeanne Antide in Bohong/Bouar, Central African Republic (1992-1996); rector of the minor seminary of Bouar (1996-2005); chancellor of the diocesan Curia of Bouar (2003-2006); pastor of the Cathedral of Bouar, prison and hospital chaplain in Bouar, and president of the Commission Justice et Paix (2011-2014). Since 2006 he has served as vicar general.
