Appointment of undersecretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Jozef Barlaš, until now official of the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, as undersecretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Barlaš was born on 7 May 1985 in Snina, Slovakia. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Košice on 19 June 2010. He was awarded a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University in 2022. Since 1 October 2020 he has served as an official in the Section for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State. He was appointed chaplain of His Holiness in 2025. Besides Slovak, he knows Italian, English and Spanish.
