Today, the Holy Father received in audience Her Excellency Ms. Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Reverend Msgr. Mirosław Wachowski, Under-Secretary for Relations with States.

During the cordial talks, which took place at the Secretariat of State, the good existing relations between the Holy See and the Republic of Slovenia were evoked, and mention was also made of some open questions in Church-State relations, highlighting the contribution of the Catholic Church to Slovenian society.

Attention then turned to some issues of an international nature, with particular attention to the Western Balkans region and the conflicts in the Middle East and in Ukraine.
