Resignation and appointment of bishop of Vicenza, Italy

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Vicenza, Italy, presented by Bishop Beniamino Pizziol.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Giuliano Brugnotto, until now vicar general of the dioces of Treviso, as bishop of the diocese of Vicenza, Italy.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Giuliano Brugnotto was born on 7 November 1963 in Carbonera, in the diocese of Treviso. He attended the minor and major seminary of Treviso and was ordained a priest on 19 May 1990.

He was awarded a doctorate from the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar in Silea (1990-1991), director of Episcopal Celebrations (1995-2001), educator in the Theological Community of the Major Seminary (1997-2004), and bishop’s delegate for the ongoing formation of young clergy (2004-2010). He initiated the Santa Bertilla University Chaplaincy, sharing the service with the religious community of the Teaching Sisters of Saint Dorothy, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts (2005-2010). He went on to serve as director of the diocesan liturgical office (2006-2010) and chancellor of the diocesan Curia (2010-2018), rector of the minor and major seminary (2018-2021) and ecclesiastical assistant of the public association of faithful, Diocesan pastoral cooperators (2014-2021), defender of the Bond at the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Triveneta Ecclesiastical Region (1997-2008) and member of the Cathedral Chapter since 2011.

In addition, he is a member of the Triveneto Regional Presbyteral Commission (2007-2013) and of the Italian Presbyteral Commission (2008-2013), and lecturer in canon law in various institutes, in particular the Saint Pius X Faculty of Canon Law of Venice (since 2003), of which he was also the dean (2014-2019).

He is currently vicar general and member of the Episcopal Council, the College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council, the diocesan Pastoral Council and the diocesan Board of Economic Affairs.

 

Resignation of the Promotor of Justice of Vatican City State, and appointment of new Promotor and appointment of adjunct Promotor of Justice

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation presented by the distinguished Professor Gian Piero Milano, Promotor of Justice of Vatican City State, and has appointed the distinguished Professor Alessandro Diddi, professor of criminal procedural law at the University of Calabria, until now adjunct Promoter of Justice, as the new Promoter of Justice of Vatican City State.

At the same time, he appointed Professor Settimio Carmignani Caridi, former professor of canon and ecclesiastical law at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and professor of Vatican law at the “Scuola di Diritto Vaticano” (School of Vatican Law) of the L.U.M.S.A., as adjunct Promoter of Justice.
