The Holy Father will bless the palm and olive branches, and at the end of the procession will celebrate Holy Mass of the Passion of the Lord.

The Holy Father will preside at the Liturgy of the Word, the Adoration of the Cross, and the Rite of Communion.

VIA CRUCIS

Colosseum: 17.00 h

The Holy Father will preside at the pious exercise of the “Via Crucis”, the Way of the Cross, at the end of which he will address the faithful and impart an Apostolic Blessing.

EASTER SUNDAY
THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

EASTER VIGIL

The Holy Father will bless the new flame in the entrance of St. Peter’s Basilica; after the entry in procession into the Basilica with the Paschal candle and the singing of the Exsultet, he will preside at the Liturgy of the Word, the Baptismal Liturgy and the Eucharistic Liturgy, which will be concelebrated with the cardinals, the bishops who wish, and some priests, as space allows.

The Holy Father will celebrate Holy Mass. At the end of the celebration, from the central loggia of the Basilica, he will impart the “Urbi et Orbi” blessing.
