The Holy Father has:
appointed Fr. Michael Miabesue Bibi as auxiliary of the archdiocese of Bamenda (area 10,000, population 1,413,000, Catholics 410,071, priests 113, religious 401), Cameroon. The bishop-elect was born in Bamessing, Cameroon in 1971 and was ordained a priest in 2000. He studied philosophy and theology in the St. Thomas Aquinas major seminary in Bambui, Bamenda, and holds a Master’s degree in theology specialising in catechetics from the Maryvale Institute, Birmingham, England. He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including vicar in the parishes of “St. Jude”, Fundog, “St. Mathias”, Widikum, and “St. Joseph”, Mankon; chaplain of the Sacred Heart College of Mankon and St. Paul College in Nkwen; assistant archdiocesan financial secretary and diocesan chancellor, and special secretary to the archbishop. He is currently secretary chancellor of the archdiocese of Bamenda.
appointed Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz as Prelate of the Personal Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei, confirming the canonical election in accordance with No. 130 of the Statutes. Msgr. Ocáriz is currently auxiliary vicar of the same Prelature.
