Vatican City, 29 June 2016 – The Holy Father appointed:
- Msgr. José Libardo Garcés Monsalve as bishop of Málaga – Soatá (area 7,466, population 190,000, Catholics 180,000, priests 65, religious 27), Colombia. The bishop-elect was born in Aguadas, Colombia in 1967 and was ordained a priest in 1993. He holds a licentiate in philosophy and religious sciences from "Santo Tomás" University, Colombia, and a licentiate in psychology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and has served in a number of pastoral roles including parish vicar, formator in the major seminary of Manizales, and parish priest. He is currently pastor of the Cathedral "Nuestra Señora del Rosario" and archdiocesan chancellor.
- Msgr. José Daniel Falla Robles, auxiliary bishop of Cali, Colombia and general secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, as bishop of Soacha (area 425, population 927,000, Catholics 887,000, priests 66, permanent deacons 9, religious 160), Colombia. He succeeds Bishop Daniel Caro Borda, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.
- Fr. Roberto Bergamaschi, S.D.B., as vicar apostolic of Awasa (area 118,760, population 7,720,000, Catholics 216,031, priests 48, religious 113), Ethiopia. The bishop-elect was born in San Donato Milanese, Italy in 1954, gave his religious vows in 1975 and was ordained a priest in 1982. He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including missionary in Dilla, Ethiopia, parish priest, visitator of the Salesian Inspectorate of Ethiopia-Eritrea, and director of Salesian works of Gotera and of Mekanissa, in Addis Abeba. He is currently pastor of the St. Mary Help of Christians parish in Dilla, and member of the mission council and of the presbyteral council.
