Francis calls for prayers for World Youth Day and underlines that work is dignity, 30.06.2016
Vatican City, 30 June 2016 – Following today's catechesis, the Pope greeted, among others, Polish pilgrims, whom he asked to pray for him and for the young people in Poland and throughout the world who are preparing for the upcoming World Youth Day meeting in Krakow.
He also addressed participants in the General Chapters of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus and the Daughters of Divine Zeal, the Missionary Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate and the Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, exhorting them all to exercise the charisms of their foundation in today's society, so that the men and women of our age may find in their lives a concrete sign of God's mercy.
He also gave a special greeting to the Association of Employment Advisers, commencing their seventh Work Festival. "I encourage you to promote a culture of work that ensures the dignity of the person and the common good of society, starting from its basic cell, the family. Indeed, it is the family that most suffers the consequences of poor work: poor in terms of its scarcity and its precariousness. You, as labour advisers, have the task not of assistance but rather of promotion so, at national and European level, economic institutions and actors pursue in a concerted fashion the aim of full and dignified employment, because work offers dignity".
