The Collegium Liberianum Association was established within the Patriarchal Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome in order to carry out a liturgical service in accordance with the competencies proper to the laity. The service the association is called to provide in the Basilica is aimed at contributing to the proper proceeding of liturgical celebrations, in a particular way during feasts and solemnities. The members of the Association, with their presence in the greatest and most ancient Marian shrine of all of Christianity, have the task and mission to strengthen, even visibly, the union of all the faithful with the altar, ideal centre of liturgical celebrations. Moreover the associates ensure, on the occasion of particular solemnities, that an adequate welcome is given in the Basilica to civil and religious authorities. |
