Card MONDUZZI Dino

Cardinal Dino Monduzzi, Prefect emeritus of the Papal Household, was born on 2 April 1922 in Brisighella, Italy, and was ordained for the Diocese of Faenza on 22 July 1945 following theological studies in the diocesan seminary.

After earning a doctorate in utroque iure from the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome, he became involved in Catholic Action and directed its social missions in Calabria and Sardinia. He later worked for the Agrarian Reform Agency in the Fucino.

In May 1959 he became Secretary in the Office of the Maestro di Camera. With Pope Paul VI's 1967 reform of the Roman Curia he was named Secretary and Regent of the Apostolic Palace.

On 18 December 1986 he was appointed titular Bishop of Capri and Prefect of the Papal Household, and received episcopal ordination from the Holy Father on 6 January 1987. He has helped plan 130 papal visits outside Rome and 268 visits to Roman parishes. Prefect emeritus of the Papal Household,February 1998. He celebrated his 50th anniversary of priestly ordination on 23 July 1998. 

Created and proclaimed Cardinal by John Paul II in the consistory of 21 February 1998, of the Deaconry of S. Sebastiano al Palatino (St. Sebastian at the Palatine).

Cardinal Dino Monduzzi died on 13 October 2006.
