This morning, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the Prime Minister of Hungary, His Excellency Mr. Péter Magyar, who subsequently met with His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial talks, held at the Secretariat of State, satisfaction was expressed for the good bilateral relations and for the contribution that the Catholic Church makes to life in the country. The discussion then turned to the socio-economic context in Hungary and to issues of mutual interest, with particular reference to the field of education and the protection of the world’s most vulnerable Christian communities.

The conversation continued with an exchange of opinions on current international affairs, in particular the situations of conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East, with the hope for an ever-greater commitment from the international community to the promotion of peace.
