This morning, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in audience, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, His Excellency Mr. António José Martins Seguro, President of the Portuguese Republic, who subsequently met with His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial talks held at the Secretariat of State, satisfaction was expressed at the sound relations between the Holy See and Portugal. The discussion then turned to matters of mutual interest, including socio-economic developments and the promotion of the common good.

Finally, a number of regional and international issues were addressed, with particular reference to the repercussions of conflicts around the world, migration, the importance of multilateralism and respect for international law, as well as the urgent need for a constant commitment to supporting peace.
