During the audience granted to His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the Supreme Pontiff approved the votes in favour of the Ordinary Session of Cardinals and Bishops, Members of the Dicastery, and decided to extend to the universal Church the cult of Blessed Teresa di Sant’Agostino (née Maria Maddalena Claudia Lidoine) and fifteen companions of the Order of Descalced Carmelites of Compiègne, martyrs, killed in odium fidei on 17 July 1794 in Paris, France, inscribing them in the Book of Saints (equipollent canonization).
During the same audience, the Holy Father also authorized the Dicastery to promulgate the Decrees regarding:
- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Eduard Profittlich, of the Society of Jesus, titular archbishop of Adrianopolis, apostolic administrator of Estonia; born on 11 September 1890 in Birresdorf, Germany, and died on 22 February 1942 ex aerumnis carceris in Kirov, Russia;
- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Elia Comini, professed priest of the Society of Saint Francis de Sales, born in Calvenzano di Vergato, Italy, on 7 May 1910, and killed in odium fidei on 1 October 1944 in Pioppe di Salvaro, Italy;
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Áron Márton, bishop of Alba Iulia, born on 28 August 1896 in Csíkszentdomokos (present-day Romania) and died on 29 September 1980 in Alba Iulia, Romania;
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Giuseppe Maria Leone, professed priest of the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer, born on 23 May 1829 in Casaltrinità (now Trinitapoli, Italy) and died in Angri, Italy, on 9 August 1902;
- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Pierre Goursat, lay faithful, born on 15 August 1914 in Paris, France, and died there on 25 March 1991.
