FOR THE FUNERAL OF
CARDINAL PAUL JOSEF CORDES

On Monday 18 March 2024, at 15.00, at the Altar of the Cathedra of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the funeral of His Eminence Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes, of the Title of San Lorenzo in Piscibus, president emeritus of the Pontifical Council “Cor Unum”, will be held.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals, together with the Cardinals and the Archbishops and Bishops.

At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, the Holy Father Francis will preside over the rite of the Ultima Commendatio and the Valedictio.

The Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops who wish to concelebrate are requested to be present at 14.30 in the sacristy of Saint Peter’s Basilica to put on their liturgical vestments, bringing with them: the Cardinals, their white damask mitre, and the Archbishops and Bishops, their simple white mitre.

All those who, in accordance with the Motu Proprio “Pontificalis Domus”, make up the Papal Chapel and wish to participate in the liturgical celebration without concelebrating, wearing their own choral habit, are required to be present by 14.30 at the Altar of the Cathedra to take the place that will be indicated to them.
