Appointment of apostolic nuncio in the Central African Republic and in Chad

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Giuseppe Laterza, nunciature counsellor, as apostolic nuncio in the Central African Republic and in Chad, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Vartana, with the dignity of archbishop.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Giuseppe Laterza was born in Conversano, Bari, on 12 November 1970. He was ordained a priest on 12 November 1994, and incardinated in the diocese of Conversano-Monopoli.

He graduated in canon law.

He entered the Holy See Diplomatic Service on 1 July 2003, and has served in the apostolic nunciature in Uruguay and Poland, in the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Secretariat of State, and in the Pontifical Representations in Italy and Georgia.

He knows French, English and Spanish.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Michael J. Izen, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, United States of America, until now parish priest of Saint Mary and of Saint Michael in Stillwater, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Newport.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Michael John Izen was born on 12 January 1967 in Fairmont, in the diocese of Winona-Rochester. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Saint John’s University, Collegeville, and carried out his ecclesiastical studies at Saint Paul Seminary in Saint Paul, obtaining a Master of Divinity.

He was ordained a priest on 28 May 2005 for the archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

He has held the following roles: parish vicar of Divine Mercy in Fairbault (2005-2007); assistant for Hispanic ministry at Saint Patrick in Shieldsville (2006-2007); parish priest of Saint Timothy in Maple Lake (2007-2012); parish priest of Saint Raphael in Crystal (2012-2015); since 2015, parish priest of Saint Michael and of Saint Mary in Stillwater; and since 2020, administrator of Saint Charles in Bayport.
