Funeral Mass for Supreme Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI (5 January 2023)

On 5 January 2023, at 9:30 a.m., on the parvis of Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Holy Father Francis will preside at the funeral Mass for the late Supreme Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI.

At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration the Ultima Commendatio and the Valedictio will take place. The coffin of the Supreme Pontiff Emeritus will be taken to Saint Peter’s Basilica and then to the Vatican Grottoes for burial.
