Resignation and appointment of bishop of Saint Cloud, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Saint Cloud, United States of America, presented by Bishop Donald J. Kettler.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Patrick Neary, C.S.C., member of the Congregation of the Holy Cross, parish priest of the Holy Redeemer parish in Portland, Oregon, as bishop of Saint Cloud, United States of America.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Patrick Neary, C.S.C., was born on 6 March 1963 in La Porte, Indiana, in the diocese of Gary. He attended the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in history, and the Jesuit School of Theology, California, obtaining a Master of Divinity.

He was ordained a priest on 6 April 1991 for the Congregation of the Holy Cross.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint John Vianney in Goodyear, Arizona (1990-1994); university chaplain at the University of Notre Dame (1994-2000); vice-rector of the Moreau Seminary in Notre Dame (2000-2004); member of the Provincial Council of Indiana (2003-2010); director of the McCauley House of Formation in Nairobi, Kenya (2010-2011); superior of the East Africa District of the same Congregation (2011-2018).

Since 2018, he has served as parish priest of the Holy Redeemer parish in Portland, Oregon.
