Appointment of bishop of Płock, Poland

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Szymon Stułkowski as bishop of the diocese of Płock, transferring him from the titular see of Tabalta and the office of auxiliary of the archdiocese of Poznán.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Szymon Stułkowski was born on 21 February 1961 in Rokietnica, in the archdiocese of Poznán. He attended the major seminary of Poznán and was ordained a priest on 15 May 1986 for the same archdiocese.

After ordination, he first served as vicar of Saint Martin’s parish in Konarzewo (1986-1988) and in that of the Most Holy Saviour in Poznán (1988-1993). From 1994 to 2000, he studied for a doctorate in pastoral theology at the Universität Wien and was vicar in Saint Anthony’s parish in Vienna.

He has held the following offices: chaplain of university students at the parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Poznán (2000-2001); member of the Catechistic Council of the archdiocese (2002-2005); secretary of the Pastoral Commission of the Polish Episcopal Conference (2000-2016); and since 2001, lecturer in pastoral theology at the Theological Faculty of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznán and rector of the major seminary (2016-2019).

On 24 May 2019 he was appointed as titular bishop of Tabalta and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Poznán, receiving episcopal consecration the following 9 June. Within the Episcopal Conferece, he is vice-president of the Council for the Lay Apostolate, member of the Pastoral Commission, and the Commission for Missions.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of Turin, Italy

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Alessandro Giraudo, vicar general, as auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Turin, assigning him the titular see of Castra Severiana.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Alessandro Giraudo was born on 9 December 1968 in Turin, in the province and archdiocese of the same name. He studied philosophy and theology at the archepiscopal seminary and was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Turin on 12 June 1993. He was awarded a doctorate in canon law specializing in jurisprudence at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He has held the following offices: parish vicar at Nostra Signora delle Vittorie (1993-1996) and at Santa Maria di Testona (1995-1999) in Moncalieri; parish collaborator at Santi Apostoli in Turin (2002-2010); since 2002, lecturer in canon law at the parallel Turin Section of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, and since 2004, also at the Superior Institute of Religious Sciences in Turin; defender of the bond (2002-2005), judge (2005-2009) and adjunct judicial vicar (2009-2016) of the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Piedmont; since 2005, judge in the Diocesan and Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Turin; since 2016, rector of the Basilica of Corpus Domini in Turin, chancellor of the archepiscopal Curia, director of the archepiscopal archive in Turin and judge of the Interdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Piedmont; since 2017, director of the Office for the Discipline of the Sacraments; since 2018, canon of the Metropolitan Chapter; and since 2022, vicar general.

 

Appointment of member of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, archbishop of Bologna, Italy, and president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, as member of the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches.
