Resignation and appointment of bishop of Cornélio Procópio, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Cornélio Procópio, Brazil, presented by Bishop Manoel João Francisco.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Marcos José dos Santos, until now parish priest of Nossa Senhora das Graças in Centenário do Sul-PR, as bishop of the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Marcos José dos Santos was born on 2 March 1974 in Lupionópolis, metropolitan archdiocese of Londrina, in the State of Paraná. He carried out his studies in philosophy in the Instituto Filosófico de Apucarana, Paraná, and in theology at the Instituto Paulo VI in Londrina-PR. He was awarded a diploma for formators to the priesthood and consecrated life, and a licentiate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

On 12 February 2000 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Londrina, where he held the following offices: rector of the São José Seminary, spiritual director of the Paulo VI Seminary of Theology, administrator of the São João Paulo II parish, archdiocesan pastoral coordinator, member of the Presbyteral Council and of the College of Consultors.

From 2017 to date, he has served as parish priest of Nossa Senhora das Graças in Centenário do Sul-PR.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Aparecido Donizete de Souza, titular of Macriana minor, as auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Cascavel, Brazil, transferring him from the office of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Porto Alegre.
