The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal António Augusto dos Santos Marto, bishop emeritus of Leiria-Fatima, as his special envoy to the closing celebrations of the Peregrinación Europea de Jóvenes, scheduled to take place in Santiago de Compostela from 3 to 7 August 2022, on the occasion of the Compostela Holy Year.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Requena, Peru, presented by Bishop Juan Bautista Tomás Oliver Climent, O.F.M.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León, O.F.M., until now minister of the O.F.M. province of San Francisco Solano of Peru, as bishop of the same apostolic vicariate.
Curriculum vitae
Msgr. Alejandro Adolfo Wiesse León, O.F.M., was born on 11 October 1972 in Lima, Peru. In 1991 he entered the Order of Friars Minor, province of San Francisco Solano, district of Rímac, Lima, where he began his postulate. He carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the ISET – Instituto Superior de Estudios Teologicos Juan XXIII of Lima.
He gave his religious vows on 12 September 1999 and was ordained a priest on 8 December 2002.
Following priestly ordination he held the following offices: teacher of Sacred Scripture at the San Pio X Major Seminary in Huancayo and in other colleges (1998-2000), in the Major Seminary and at the Catholic University of Chimbote (2001-2002); promotor in San Antonio de Padua College in Huamanga (2002-2003); and head of catechesis and evangelization of youth in Ica (2003-2007). He then studied for a licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem (2007-2010) and a doctorate in biblical theology at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid (2010-2014). He went on to serve as parish priest of the Inmaculada Concepción in Templo Faro and master of novices in Callao (2014-2017). From 2017 to date, he has been provincial minister O.F.M. of San Francisco Solano and teacher in various academic institutions in Lima.
