Resignation and appointment of bishop of Carabayllo, Peru

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Carabayllo, Peru, presented by Bishop Lino Mario Panizza Richero, O.F.M. Cap.

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Neri Menor Vargas, O.F.M., as bishop of the diocese of Carabayllo, Peru, transferring him from the see of Huánuco.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Neri Menor Vargas, O.F.M., was born on 30 May 1960 in Pacopampa, in the territorial prelature of Chota. He gave his religious vows on 25 January 1998, and carried out his studies in philosophy and theology at the Juan XXIII Institute of Higher Studies in Lima.

He has held the following offices: guardian of the Fraternity and parish priest of Cristo Rey in Ilo, Moquegua, diocese of Tacna y Moquegua (2000-2002), provincial definitor, secretary for formation and studies and master of Franciscan students in Lima (2003-2005) and in Cuzco (2006-2008), parish priest of San José Obrero in Apacheta, vicar of the Forania No. 10 and member of the Presbyteral Council of the metropolitan archdiocese of Arequipa (2009-2011), provincial definitor and parish priest of Santa María de Jesús in Comas, diocese of Carabayllo (2012-2014), minister of the Franciscan province of Los XII Apostoles in Peru (2014-2016). On 12 May 2016 he was elected as bishop of Huánuco and received episcopal ordination the following 17 July.
