Appointment of auxiliary of La Plata, Argentina
The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the metropolitan archdiocese of La Plata, Argentina, the Reverend Jorge Esteban González, rector of the Cathedral and pro vicar general of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Alesa.
Reverend Jorge Esteban González
The Reverend Jorge Esteban González was born in La Plata on 20 June 1966 and was ordained a priest for the metropolitan archdiocese of La Plata on 7 December 1992. He holds a degree in spiritual theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.
He has held the following positions: parish vicar, professor at the Instituto de Teología in La Plata, formator and professor of the major seminary, president of the archdiocesan Commission for Communication, parish priest of the Inmaculado Corazón de María parish in City Bell, member of the Council for the Formation of the Permanent Diaconate, member of the presbyteral council and dean of the North Zone.
He is currently pro vicar general, rector and parish priest of the Cathedral Church, member of the presbyteral council, professor of the major seminary and director of the Group for the Permanent Formation of the Clergy.
He is a member of the Federation of Diocesan Priests of Schönstatt and from 2007 to 2018 he was National Councillor for Girls’ Youth of the same Movement.
