Entry into force of the Framework Agreement
between the Holy See and the Republic of Angola

Today, 21 November 2019, by official communication from the Embassy of the Republic of Angola to the Holy See, the procedure for the exchange of the Instruments of Ratification of the Framework Agreement between the Holy See and the Republic of Angola, signed in the Vatican on 13 September 2019, was completed.

The Framework Agreement, which entered into force on today’s date in accordance with Article 25 thereof, guarantees to the Catholic Church the possibility of carrying out her mission in Angola. In particular, the legal personality of the Catholic Church and her institutions is recognized. The two Parties, safeguarding the independence and autonomy proper to each, undertake to collaborate for the spiritual and material wellbeing of man and to promote the common good, with respect for the dignity and rights of the human person.
