Press Conference of 30 September 2019
On Monday 30 September 2019, at 11.30, in the Holy See Press Office, Via della Conciliazione 54, a press conference will be held to present the forthcoming initiatives of the Joseph Ratzinger – Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation:
a) The Ninth Edition of the “Ratzinger Prize” (with the announcement of the Prizewinners), on 9 November 2019 in the Vatican;
b) The Ninth International Symposium, on the theme: “The economic, social and spiritual situation of the countries of Central Europe in the light of the Social Doctrine of the Church”, in collaboration with the Hungarian Catholic “Pázmány Péter” University, on 8 and 9 October 2019 in Budapest;
c) a seminar entitled “The Challenges of the Pan-Amazon Region: necessary cooperation between international bodies and the Catholic Church and ethical leadership”, to take place on 19 October in the Vatican in the context of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region (6 to 27 October 2019).
The panel will be composed of:
- His Eminence Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, president of the Pontifical Council for Culture and member of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation;
- Fr. Federico Lombardi, S.J., president of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
Press Conference of 3 October 2019
On Thursday 3 October 2019, at 11.30, in the Holy See Press Office, Via della Conciliazione 54, a press conference will be held to present the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region on the theme: Amazonia: New paths for the Church and for an integral ecology (6 to 27 October 2019).
The speakers will be:
- His Eminence Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, general secretary of the Synod of Bishops;
- His Eminence Cardinal Cláudio Hummes, O.F.M., archbishop emeritus of São Paulo, president of the Pan-Amazon Ecclesial Network (REPAM), general rapporteur;
- Bishop Fabio Fabene, under-secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
A simultaneous translation service, in Italian, English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese, will be available to journalists present in the Conference Hall.
