Appointment of bishop of Iligan, Philippines
The Holy Father Francis has appointed as bishop of Iligan, Philippines, the Rev. Jose R. Repadas III of the clergy of the diocese of Ipil, vicar for the clergy and parish priest of S. Nino en Malangas.
The bishop-elect was born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines in 1972, and was ordained a priest in 1999. He holds a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Loyola School of Theology and the University of Manila in Quezon City.
He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar, coordinator of diocesan social pastoral ministry, seminary professor, director of the Office of Catechesis for the Family and Life, rector of the Saint Joseph College Seminary and professor of religious studies and the University of Zamboanga.
