AND THE PASSION OF THE LORD

“I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to Your word” (Lk 1: 38)

The Holy Father will bless the palms and the olive branches and, at the end of the procession, will celebrate the Holy Mass of the Passion of the Lord.

CELEBRATION OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD

The Holy Father will preside at the Liturgy of the Word, the Adoration of the Cross and the Rite of Communion.

VIA CRUCIS

Colosseum, 21:15

The Holy Father will preside at the pious exercise of the “Via Crucis”, at the end of which he will address the faithful and impart his Apostolic Blessing.

EASTER SUNDAY
IN THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

EASTER VIGIL

Vatican Basilica, 20:30

The Holy Father will bless the new flame in the atrium of Saint Peter’s Basilica; after the processional entry into the Basilica with the Paschal candle and the singing of the Exsultet, he will preside at the Baptismal Liturgy and the Eucharistic Liturgy, which will be concelebrated with the Cardinals, the Bishops who so wish, and some priests, subject to the availability of places.

HOLY MASS OF THE DAY

Saint Peter’s Square, 10:00

The Holy Father will celebrate Holy Mass. At the end of the celebration, form the central balcony of the Basilica, he will impart the “Urbi et Orbi” blessing.
