Appointment of bishop of Saint John’s Basseterre, Antigua and Barbuda

The Holy Father Francis has appointed as bishop of Saint John’s Basseterre (Antigua and Barbuda) H.E. Msgr. Robert A. Llanos, currently auxiliary bishop of Port of Spain and apostolic administrator of Saint John’s Basseterre.

 

Appointment of director of the Editorial Directorate of the Dicastery for Communication

The Pope has appointed the Distinguished Dr. Andrea Tornielli as director of the editorial directorate of the Dicastery for Communication.

Dr. Andrea Tornielli

Dr. Andrea Tornielli was born in Chioggia (VE) on 19 March 1964, attended the classical Lyceum and then the University of Padua where he graduated in history of Greek language.

From 1992 to 1996 he was editor of the monthly journey 30 Giorni.

From 1996 to 2011 he worked for the daily Il Giornale.

In April 2011 he transferred to the daily La Stampa, where he coordinated the website Vatican Insider.

He lives in Rome and Milan, and is married with three children.

 

Appointment of editor-in-chief of “L’Osservatore Romano”

The Holy Father has conferred the title of Director Emeritus of “L’Osservatore Romano” to the Distinguished Professor Giovanni Maria Vian, and has called the Distinguished Professor Andrea Monda to succeed him as editor-in-chief of the same newspaper.

Professor Andrea Monda

Professor Andrea Monda, writer and essayist, was born in Rome on 22 March 1966, is married with a son, and graduated in law from the La Sapienza University of Rome. He also holds a degree in religious sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He worked for several years in the legal office of the tax department of the Municipality of Rome for a banking institute.

Since 2000 he has served as a lecturer in religion; for around a decade he has held seminars on Christianity and literature at the Pontifical Lateran and Gregorian Universities.

He is a member of the Association of Journalists and collaborates with the cultural pages of various newspapers, including Avvenire; he writes reviews for La Civiltà Cattolica.

He organizes workshops and cultural events, and is the author of numerous essays and books.
