Today the Holy Father Francis received in audience H.E. Mr. Igor Dodon, President of the Republic of Moldova, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Rev. Msgr. Antoine Camilleri, under-Secretary for Relations with States.

During the cordial discussions, appreciation was expressed regarding the good state of bilateral relations and the positive contribution of the Church to Moldovan society, especially through ecumenical efforts and educational and charitable works.

There followed an exchange on the situation in the country and on various themes of mutual interest, such as the promotion of family values, as well as peace and security at regional and international level.
