Communiqué of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, 21.10.2017

From 22 to 25 October the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Theophilos III, will visit Rome to meet the Holy Father. The encounter between Pope Francis and the Patriarch Theophilos III will take place next Monday, 23 October. His Beatitude will be accompanied by Archbishop Aristarchos, head of the Secretariat of the Patriarchate, the Archdeacon Markos, Mr. Rami Moghrabi and Mr. Nader Elias Moghrabi. Pope Francis and the Patriarch Theophilos III have met twice before: during the Holy Father’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem in May 2014 and on the occasion of the Invocation for Peace, held in the Vatican Gardens in June of the same year.

During his stay in Rome, His Beatitude Theophilos III will also meet with His Eminence Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, and with His Excellency Paul Richard Gallagher, secretary for Relations with States. In addition, the Patriarch and his entourage will have discussions with His Eminence Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, and with His Eminence Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
