Today at 12.55, in Vatican City State Tribunal, the seventh hearing took place in the criminal trial of Giuseppe Profiti and Massimo Spina, accused of the misappropriation of funds from the Bambino Gesù Foundation.
The panel of judges was present (Professor Paolo Papanti-Pelletier, President; Professor Venerando Marano, Judge; and Professor Carlo Bonzano, Judge) and the adjunct Promoter of Justice, Professor Roberto Zanotti (Professor Gian Piero Milano was absent). The defendant Giuseppe Profiti was absent at the beginning of the proceedings and arrived later; his court-appointed attorney, Antonello Blasi, was present. The other defendant, Massimo Spina, was absent for justified medical reasons; his court-appointed attorney, Alfredo Ottaviano, as present.
Dr. Tommaso Di Ruzza, director of the Financial Information Authority, was present as a witness.
The hearing, which ended at around 14.05, was adjourned until Monday 9 October, at 11.00. It was confirmed that on that date the President of the Bambino Gesù Hospital, Dr. Mariella Enoc, will be heard as a witness.
