At 10.30 this morning, the Holy Father Francis received in audience H.E. Mr. Jaime Manuel del Arenal Fenochio, ambassador of Mexico to the Holy See, on the occasion of the presentation of his credential letters.
The following is a brief biography of the new ambassador:
H.E. Mr. Jaime Manuel del Arenal Fenochio
Ambassador of Mexico to the Holy See
Born in Mexico City on 8 August 1953, he is married with three daughters.
He graduated in law from the Free School of Law, and subsequently obtained a master’s degree and a doctorate in law (University of Navarra, Spain, 1998).
He has held the following offices: Full-time professor and researcher at the Free School of Law (1978-2007); part-time professor in the Faculty of Law of the Panamerican University (1982-1985 and 1989-2007); part-time associate researcher at the Centre for University Studies of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (CESU) (1985-1989); director of the Institute for Mexican Culture in Spain and Cultural Advisor at the Embassy of Mexico in Madrid (2007-2013); ambassador in Ecuador (since 2013).
