Resignation of bishop of Trivento, Italy, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Trivento, Italy, presented by His Excellency Msgr. Domenico Angelo Scotti.
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Trivento, Italy, the Rev. Msgr. Claudio Palumbo, currently vicar general of the diocese of Isernia-Venafro.
Msgr. Claudio Palumbo
Msgr. Claudio Palumbo was born in Venafro on 30 January 1965. After completing his studies at the classical lyceum he entered the Pontifical Seminary of Chieti and obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Abruzzese-Molisano Theological Institute.
At the Pontifical Gregorian University he obtained a licentiate (1994) and a doctorate in history of the Church, a discipline he continues to teach in theological institutes.
He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1990 for the diocese of Isernia-Venafro.
From 1990 to 2011 he was pastor of the parish of San Giovanni Bosco. He served as vice rector of the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Chieti (1993-1998) and librarian of the Abruzzese-Molisano Theological Institute (1993-2011). He is currently vicar general (since 2011) and pastor of the parish of San Pietro Apostolo. In 2009 he was named Prelate of Honour of His Holiness.
