Resignation of bishop of Bà Ria,Viêt Nam, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Bà Ria, Viêt Nam, presented by His Excellency Msgr. Thomas Nguyen Van Tram.

He is succeeded by His Excellency Msgr. Emmanuel Nguyen Hong Son, coadjutor of the same diocese.

 

Appointment of bishop of Avellino, Italy

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Avellino, Italy, His Excellency Msgr. Arturo Aiello, transferring him from the diocese of Teano-Calvi.

Msgr. Arturo Aiello

Msgr. Arturo Aiello was born in Vico Equense, archdiocese of Sorrento-Castellammare di Stabia, and province of Naples, on 14 May 1955. As a student of the Campano Regional Seminary of Naples, he studied philosophy and theology at the Theological Faculty of Naples-San Luigi Section, obtaining a Baccalaureate (1979) and frequenting courses in Sacred Scripture. In 1987 he obtained a degree in sociology in the Federico II State University of Naples.

He was ordained a priest on 7 July 1979.

He has served as vicar and pastor of the “St. Michael Archangel” parish, zonal vicar, episcopal vicar for liturgy and ministers, and episcopal delegate for the clergy, assistant to the FIR and promoter of the Diocesan Youth Day, coordinator of pastoral unity, episcopal delegate for consecrated life, spiritual father in the diocesan major seminary, and member of the Presbyteral Council and College of Consultors.

He was elected to the Episcopal see of Teano-Calvi on 13 May 2006, and received Episcopal consecration on the following 30 June. Within the Italian Episcopal Council he is a member of the Episcopal Commission for the Clergy and Consecrated Life.
