Resignation of bishop of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Mexico, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Irapuato, Mexico, presented by Msgr. José de Jesús Martínez Zepeda.
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Irapuato, Mexico, Msgr. Enrique Díaz Díaz, currently coadjutor of the diocese of San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
Msgr. Enrique Díaz Díaz
Msgr. Enrique Díaz Díaz was born on 13 June 1952 in the city of Huandacareo, archdiocese of Morelia. He received basic formation in the priesthood from the archiepiscopal seminary of Morelia, the archdiocese in which he was ordained a priest in October 1977.
After priestly ordination he performed his ministry as parish vicar and then parish priest in various parishes in the archdiocese of Morelia. In 1994 he obtained a licentiate in sacred scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. Upon re-entering his archdiocese after his studies in Rome, he was appointed parish priest, lecturer in the archdiocesan seminary and episcopal vicar of a vast pastoral zone.
On 30 April 2003 he was appointed as titular bishop of Izirzada and auxiliary of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, and received episcopal ordination on 10 July of the same year. On 15 May 2014 he was appointed as coadjutor bishop of San Cristóbal de Las Casas.

The Holy Father has appointed Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, prefect emeritus of the Congregation for Catholic Education, as his special envoy at the ceremony for the coronation of the image of “Our Lady Health of the Sick” at the Cathedral-Shrine of the diocese of Świdnica, Poland, to be held on 13 May 2017, on the centenary of the apparitions of the Virgin of Fatima.
