Vatican City, 17 June 2016 – The Holy Father:
- gave his assent to the canonical election by the Synod of Bishops of the Maronite Patriarchal Church of Fr. Joseph Nafaa as bishop of the patriarchal Curia. The bishop-elect was born in Andket, Lebanon in 1969 and was ordained a priest in 1995. He holds a licentiate in philosophy and a doctorate in biblical theology. He has served as lecturer in the Old Testament in Catholic Universities of Lebanon, and is currently parish priest of Bnachi and director of the eparchal technical institute of Karmsaddé, formator in the seminary and member of the presbyteral council of the archieparchy.
- Fr. Robert Michael Kasun, C.S.B., as auxiliary of Toronto (area 13,000, population 6,170,253, Catholics 2,036,183, priests 819, permanent deacons 130, religious 1,113), Canada. The bishop-elect was born in Cudworth, Canada in 1951 and was ordained a priest in 1978. He holds a Master in Divinity from the St. Michael College of the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor's degree and Masters in pedagogy from the University of Toronto. He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including teacher, advisor to the general council of the Congregation of St. Basil, director of vocations, parish vicar, regional representative for Western Canada of the Congregation of St. Basil, and parish priest. He is currently pastor of the "St. Alphonsus-St. Clare" parish in Edmonton.
