Esperienze e comprensione della sinodalità
nella vita della parrocchia e della diocesi / eparchia
«La sinodalità può intendersi come camminare dei cristiani con Cristo e verso il Regno, insieme a tutta l’umanità; orientata alla missione, essa comporta il riunirsi in assemblea ai diversi livelli della vita ecclesiale, l'ascolto reciproco, il dialogo, il discernimento comunitario, la creazione del consenso come espressione del rendersi presente di Cristo vivo nello Spirito e l'assunzione di una decisione in una corresponsabilità differenziata» (Relazione di Sintesi – RdS 1, h). “Vanno fatte emergere le molte espressioni della vita sinodale in contesti culturali in cui le persone sono abituate a camminare insieme come comunità” (RdS 1, l).

La partecipazione dei diversi carismi, vocazioni, ministeri
nella vita della parrocchia e della diocesi/eparchia
«Piuttosto che dire che la Chiesa ha una missione, affermiamo che la Chiesa è missione […] I sacramenti dell’iniziazione cristiana conferiscono a tutti i discepoli di Gesù la responsabilità della missione della Chiesa. Laici e laiche, consacrate e consacrati, e ministri ordinati hanno pari dignità. Hanno ricevuto carismi e vocazioni diversi ed esercitano ruoli e funzioni differenti, tutti chiamati e nutriti dallo Spirito Santo per formare un solo corpo in Cristo. Tutti discepoli, tutti missionari, nella vitalità fraterna di comunità locali che sperimentano la dolce e confortante gioia di evangelizzare. L'esercizio della corresponsabilità è essenziale per la sinodalità ed è necessario a tutti i livelli della Chiesa. Ogni cristiano è una missione in questo mondo» (RdS 8, a-b).
Nel mio ministero di parroco, quali esperienze ho potuto fare riguardo alla partecipazione dei diversi carismi, vocazioni, ministeri alla vita della parrocchia e della diocesi/eparchia? Quali intuizioni e quali interrogativi hanno suscitato in me? Nel mio contesto di provenienza, quali esperienze significative abbiamo maturato per quanto riguarda il contributo delle comunità parrocchiali alla vita e alla missione della Chiesa locale (diocesi o eparchia) cui appartengono? Che cosa ci hanno insegnato?

Le dinamiche di discernimento per la missione e gli organismi di partecipazione
nella vita della parrocchia e della diocesi/eparchia
«In quanto membri del Popolo fedele di Dio, tutti i battezzati sono corresponsabili della missione, ciascuno secondo la sua vocazione, con la sua esperienza e competenza; pertanto, tutti contribuiscono a immaginare e decidere passi di riforma delle comunità cristiane e della Chiesa tutta, così che essa viva “la dolce e confortante gioia di evangelizzare”. La sinodalità, nella composizione e nel funzionamento degli organismi in cui prende corpo, ha come finalità la missione. La corresponsabilità è per la missione: questo attesta che si è davvero riuniti nel nome di Gesù, questo affranca gli organismi di partecipazione da involuzioni burocratiche e da logiche mondane di potere, questo rende fruttuoso il riunirsi» (RdS 18 a).
Nel mio ministero di parroco quali esperienze di dinamiche di discernimento ecclesiale ho potuto fare? Quali sono state felici e quali difficoltose? Che insegnamento ne traggo?
Nel contesto da cui provengo come funzionano gli organismi di partecipazione a livello parrocchiale? E a livello di diocesi o eparchia? Quali segni di speranza e quali fatiche vi riconosco?

DIALOGO CON PAPA FRANCESCO
«Come fratello maggiore e padre anch’io voglio essere vicino, prima di tutto per ringraziarvi a nome del santo Popolo fedele di Dio per tutto ciò che riceve da voi e, a mia volta, incoraggiarvi a rinnovare quelle parole che il Signore ha pronunciato così teneramente nel giorno della nostra ordinazione e costituiscono la sorgente della nostra gioia: «Non vi chiamo più servi ... vi ho chiamato amici» (Gv 15,15)» (Lettera di Papa Francesco ai Sacerdoti in occasione del 160° anniversario della morte del santo Curato d’Ars).

NOTA INFORMATIVA
Dal 29 aprile al 2 maggio 2024 si terrà a Sacrofano (Roma) l'Incontro Internazionale di Parroci per il Sinodo, che rifletterà sul tema "Come essere una Chiesa locale sinodale in missione", in vista della seconda sessione della XVI Assemblea Generale Ordinaria del Sinodo dei Vescovi.
Di seguito, S.E. Mons. Luis Marín de San Martín, O.S.A., Sottosegretario della Segreteria Generale del Sinodo e coordinatore dell'incontro dà alcune precisazioni per comprenderne l’importanza.
Di cosa si tratta e chi lo promuove?
Si tratta di un incontro di ascolto, preghiera e discernimento promosso dalla Segreteria Generale del Sinodo e dal Dicastero per il Clero, insieme al Dicastero per l'Evangelizzazione (Sezione per la Prima Evangelizzazione e le Nuove Chiese particolari) e al Dicastero per le Chiese Orientali.
L'iniziativa risponde anche alle indicazioni dei partecipanti alla prima sessione della XVI Assemblea Generale Ordinaria del Sinodo dei Vescovi, che hanno suggerito di ascoltare maggiormente la voce dei parroci.
Quali sono gli obiettivi?
· Ascoltare e valorizzare l'esperienza sinodale che stanno vivendo nelle rispettive parrocchie e diocesi.
· Permettere il dialogo e lo scambio di esperienze e idee.
· Fornire materiale da utilizzare per la stesura dell'Instrumentum laboris per la Seconda Sessione, insieme alle sintesi della consultazione coordinata dalle Conferenze episcopali e ai risultati dello studio teologico-canonico realizzato da cinque Gruppi di lavoro attivati dalla Segreteria generale del Sinodo.
Quanti saranno i partecipanti?
Il numero dei partecipanti è stato determinato secondo un criterio analogo a quello utilizzato per l'elezione dei membri dell'Assemblea sinodale da parte delle Conferenze episcopali (circa 200)[1]. Tuttavia, visto le richieste pervenute da parte di alcune Conferenze episcopali, il numero di parroci sarà superiore a 200.
Quali sono stati i criteri utilizzati?
Per la selezione dei partecipanti, le Conferenze episcopali e le Chiese cattoliche orientali sono state invitate a tenere conto, per quanto possibile, dei seguenti criteri:
· Dare la preferenza a parroci che abbiano una significativa esperienza nella prospettiva di una Chiesa sinodale.
· Favorire una certa varietà di contesti pastorali di provenienza (rurale, urbano, contesti socio-culturali specifici, ecc.).
Come si struttura il programma dell’incontro? (vedi programma allegato)
L’incontro si svilupperà a due importanti momenti.
Primo momento
A Sacrofano (29 aprile -1 maggio):
· Tema generale: Come essere una Chiesa sinodale locale in missione.
· Un tema per ogni giorno: Il volto della Chiesa sinodale; Tutti discepoli, tutti missionari; Tessere legami, costruire comunità.
· Le relazioni saranno accompagnate da cinque esperti: V. David (vescovo, Filippine), B. Ndubueze Ejeh (canonista, Nigeria), T. Halík (teologo, Repubblica Ceca), G. Routhier (teologo, Canada) e M.L. Zervino (sociologa, Argentina).
· Metodo la conversazione nello Spirito.
· Lavoro di gruppo e plenaria.
· Tempo per la preghiera (preghiera all'inizio della giornata, tempo per la preghiera personale, celebrazione dell'Eucaristia). Al mattino verrà esposto il Santissimo Sacramento nella cappella.
Secondo momento
In Vaticano (2 maggio):
· Incontro-dialogo con il Santo Padre (Aula Nuova del Sinodo).
· Eucaristia nella Basilica di San Pietro (Altare della Cattedra).

Experiences and understanding of synodality
in the life of the parish and diocese/eparchy
"Synodality can be understood as Christians walking in communion with Christ toward the Kingdom along with the whole of humanity. Its orientation is towards mission, and its practice involves gathering in assembly at each level of ecclesial life. It involves reciprocal listening, dialogue, community discernment, and creation of consensus as an expression that renders Christ present in the Holy Spirit, each taking decisions in accordance with their responsibilities." (Synthesis Report, hereafter SR, 1, h). "The many expressions of synodal life in cultural contexts where people are used to walking together as a community " (SR 1, l).
What experiences of a synodal Church have I had in my ministry as a parish priest? Which ones have been happy and which ones less so? What understanding of synodality have I been able to mature through them?

ALL DISCIPLES ALL MISSIONARIES
The participation of different charisms, vocations, ministries
in the life of the parish and diocese/eparchy
"Rather than saying that the Church has a mission, we affirm that Church ‘is’ mission. [...] The sacraments of Christian initiation confer on all the disciples of Jesus the responsibility for the mission of the Church. Laymen and laywomen, those in consecrated life, and ordained ministers have equal dignity. They have received different charisms and vocations and exercise different roles and functions, but all are called and nourished by the Holy Spirit to form one body in Christ (1 Cor. 4-31). They are all disciples, all missionaries, in the reciprocal vitality of local communities who experience the delightful and comforting joy of evangelizing. The exercise of co-responsibility is essential for synodality and is necessary at all levels of the Church. Each Christian is a mission on this earth." (RdS 8, a-b).
In my ministry as a parish priest, how have I experienced the participation of different charisms, vocations, ministries in the life of the parish and diocese/eparchy? What insights and questions have they occasioned in me? In my local context, what significant experiences have we had of parish communities contributing to the life and mission of the local Church (diocese or eparchy) to which they belong? What have we learned from these experiences?

Discernment dynamics for mission and participation bodies
in the life of the parish and diocese/eparchy
"As members of the faithful People of God, all the baptised are co-responsible for mission, each according to his or her vocation, competence and experience. Therefore, all contribute to imagining and discerning steps to reform Christian communities and the Church as a whole. In this way, the Church experiences "the sweet and comforting joy of evangelising." The purpose of synodality, in the composition and functioning of the bodies in which it takes shape, is mission. Co-responsibility is for mission: this attests that we are truly gathered in the name of Jesus, this frees the bodies of participation from bureaucratic limitations and worldly logics of power, and makes gathering fruitful." (RdS 18 a).
In my ministry as a parish priest, how have I experienced of the dynamics of ecclesial discernment? Which ones have been happy and which ones difficult? What lessons do I draw from them?
In my local context, how do participatory bodies function at the parish level? And at diocesan or eparchy level? What signs of hope do I recognise there?

INFORMATIONAL NOTE
From 29 April to 2 May 2024, the International Meeting of Parish Priests for the Synod will be held in Sacrofano (Rome), reflecting on the theme "How to be a synodal local Church in mission", in view of the second session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
With this note, H.E. Msgr. Luis Marín de San Martín, O.S.A., Undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod, and coordinator of the meeting, provides details to understand its importance.
What is this meeting about and who is promoting it?
It is a meeting for listening, for prayer and discernment promoted by the General Secretariat of the Synod and the Dicastery for the Clergy, together with the Dicastery for Evangelisation (Section for the First Evangelisation and the Particular New Churches) and the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches.
This initiative also responds to the indications of the participants in the first session of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, who suggested listening more to the voice of parish priests.
What are the objectives?
· To listen to and enhance the synodal experience they are having in their respective parishes and dioceses.
· To enable dialogue and the exchange of experiences and ideas.
· To provide material to be used for the drafting of the Instrumentum laboris for the Second Session, together with the summaries of the consultation coordinated by the Bishops' Conferences and the results of the theological-canonical study carried out by five Working Groups activated by the General Secretariat of the Synod.
How many participants will attend the meeting?
The number of participants (around 200) was determined according to a criterion similar to that used for the election of the members of the Synodal Assembly by the Bishops' Conferences[1]. However, given the requests received from some Bishops' Conferences, the number of parish priests will be higher than 200.
What criteria were used for the selection of the parish priests?
For the selection of participants, the Bishops' Conferences and Eastern Catholic Churches were asked to take the following criteria into account as much as possible:
· Preference for parish priests who have significant experience in the perspective of a synodal Church.
· Promotion of a variety of pastoral backgrounds (rural, urban, specific socio-cultural contexts, etc.).
How is the meeting programme structured? (see attached programme)
The meeting will take place in two major moments.
First moment
In Sacrofano (29 April -1 May):
· General theme: How to be a local synodal Church in mission.
· A theme for each of the three days: The face of the synodal Church; All disciples, all missionaries; Weaving bonds, building community.
· Presentations will be accompanied by five experts: V. David (bishop, Philippines), B. Ndubueze Ejeh (canonist, Nigeria), T. Halík (theologian, Czech Republic), G. Routhier (theologian, Canada) and M.L. Zervino (sociologist, Argentina).
· Method: Conversation in the Spirit.
· Group and plenary work.
· Time for prayer (prayer at the beginning of the day, time for personal prayer, celebration of the Eucharist). In the morning, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the chapel.
Second moment
At the Vatican (2 May):
· Meeting-dialogue with the Holy Father (New Synod Hall).
· Eucharist in St. Peter's Basilica (Altar of the Cathedra).

« Nous affirmons que l’Eglise, plus qu’avoir une mission, est elle-même mission. [...] Les sacrements de l’initiation chrétienne confèrent à tous les disciples de Jésus une responsabilité dans la mission de l’Église. Les laïcs, hommes et femmes, les personnes consacrées, et les ministres ordonnés ont une égale dignité. Ils ont reçu des charismes et des vocations différents et exercent des rôles et des fonctions différents, ils sont tous appelés et nourris par l’Esprit Saint pour former un seul corps dans le Christ. Tous disciples, tous missionnaires, dans la force de vie fraternelle des communautés locales qui font l’expérience de la douce et réconfortante joie de l’évangélisation. La mise en œuvre de la coresponsabilité est essentielle dans la synodalité et nécessaire à tous les niveaux de l’Église. Chaque chrétien est une mission dans ce monde » (RdS 8, a-b).

Dynamique de discernement pour la mission et organismes de participation
dans la vie de la paroisse et du diocèse/éparchie
« En tant que membres du Peuple fidèle de Dieu, tous les baptisés sont coresponsables de la mission, chacun selon sa vocation, son expérience et sa compétence ; tous contribuent donc à imaginer et à décider les étapes de réforme des communautés chrétiennes et de l’Église dans son ensemble, afin qu’elle puisse vivre « la douce et réconfortante joie d’évangéliser ». La synodalité, à travers la composition et le fonctionnement des organismes qui la concrétisent, a pour finalité la mission. La coresponsabilité est au service de la mission : cela montre que l’on est vraiment réuni au nom de Jésus, cela permet aux organismes de participation d’échapper à l’atrophie administrative et aux logiques mondaines de pouvoir, cela rend les rencontres fécondes » (RdS 18 a).

Du 29 avril au 2 mai 2024 se tiendra à Sacrofano (Rome) la Rencontre Internationale de Curés de Paroisse pour le Synode, qui réfléchira sur le thème « Comment être une Église locale synodale en mission », en vue de la deuxième session de la XVIe Assemblée Générale Ordinaire du Synode des Évêques.
S.E. Mgr Luis Marín de San Martín, O.S.A., sous-secrétaire du Secrétariat général de la Secrétairerie Générale du Synode et coordinateur de la rencontre, donne ci-dessous quelques détails pour en comprendre l'importance.
De quoi s'agit-il et qui en est le promoteur ?
Il s'agit d'une rencontre d'écoute, de prière et de discernement promue par la Secrétairerie Générale du Synode et le Dicastère pour le Clergé, en collaboration avec le Dicastère pour l'Évangélisation (Section pour la Première Évangélisation et les Nouvelles Églises particulières) et le Dicastère pour les Églises Orientales.
L'initiative répond également aux indications des participants à la première session de la 16e Assemblée générale Ordinaire du Synode des Évêques, qui ont suggéré d'écouter davantage la voix des curés de paroisse.
Quels sont les objectifs ?
· Écouter et valoriser l'expérience synodale qu'ils vivent dans leurs paroisses et diocèses respectifs.
· Permettre le dialogue et l'échange d'expériences et d'idées.
· Fournir le matériel nécessaire à la rédaction de l'Instrumentum laboris de la deuxième session, ainsi que les résumés de la consultation coordonnée par les Conférences épiscopales et les résultats de l'étude théologico-canonique réalisée par cinq groupes de travail activés par la Secrétairerie Générale du Synode.
Combien y aura-t-il de participants ?
Le nombre de participants a été déterminé selon un critère similaire à celui utilisé pour l'élection des membres de l'Assemblée synodale par les Conférences épiscopales (environ 200)[1]. Toutefois, compte tenu des demandes reçues de la part de certaines Conférences épiscopales, le nombre de curés sera supérieur à 200.
Quels ont été les critères de sélection ?
Pour la sélection des participants, les Conférences épiscopales et les Églises orientales catholiques ont été invitées à tenir compte, dans la mesure du possible, des critères suivants :
· Privilégier les pasteurs qui ont une expérience significative dans la perspective d'une Église synodale.
· Privilégier une certaine variété de contextes pastoraux (rural, urbain, contextes socioculturels spécifiques, etc.)
Comment le programme de la réunion est-il structuré ? (voir le programme ci-joint)
La réunion se déroulera en deux temps forts.
Premier moment
À Sacrofano (29 avril -1er mai) :
· Thème général : Comment être une Église locale synodale en mission.
· Un thème pour chaque jour : Le visage de l'Église synodale ; Tous disciples, tous missionnaires ; Tisser des liens, construire la communauté.
· Les présentations seront accompagnées par cinq experts : V. David (évêque, Philippines), B. Ndubueze Ejeh (canoniste, Nigeria), T. Halík (théologien, République tchèque), G. Routhier (théologien, Canada) et M.L. Zervino (sociologue, Argentine).
· Méthode : Conversation dans l'Esprit.
· Travail en groupe et en plénière.
· Temps de prière (prière de début de journée, temps de prière personnelle, célébration de l'Eucharistie). Le matin, le Saint Sacrement sera exposé dans la chapelle.
Deuxième moment
Au Vatican (2 mai) :
· Rencontre-dialogue avec le Saint-Père (Nouvelle Salle du Synode).
· Eucharistie dans la Basilique Saint-Pierre (autel de la cathèdre).

"Mejor que decir que la Iglesia tiene una misión, afirmamos que la Iglesia es misión [...] Los sacramentos de la iniciación cristiana confieren a todos los discípulos de Jesús la responsabilidad de la misión de la Iglesia. Laicos y laicas, consagradas y consagrados y ministros ordenaros tienen igual dignidad. Han recibido carismas y vocaciones diversas y ejercen roles y funciones diferentes, todos llamados y nutridos por el Espíritu Santo para formar un solo cuerpo de Cristo. Todos discípulos, todos misioneros, en la vitalidad fraterna de las comunidades locales que experimentan la dulce y confortante alegría de evangelizar. El ejercicio de la corresponsabilidad es esencial para la sinodalidad y es necesario a todos los niveles de la Iglesia. Cada cristiano es una misión en este mundo " (IdS 8, a-b).

En mi contexto de origen, ¿qué experiencias significativas hemos tenido sobre la contribución de las comunidades parroquiales a la vida y misión de la Iglesia local (diócesis o eparquía) a la que pertenecen? ¿Qué nos han enseñado?

Dinámicas de discernimiento para los órganos de misión y participación
en la vida de la parroquia y de la diócesis/eparquía.
" En cuanto miembros del Pueblo fiel de Dios, todos los bautizados son responsables de la misión, cada uno según su vocación, con su experiencia y competencia. Por tanto, todos contribuyen a imaginar y decidir pasos de reforma de las comunidades cristianas y de la Iglesia toda, de manera que viva “la dulce y confortadora alegría de evangelizar”. La sinodalidad, en la composición y en el funcionamiento de los organismos en las que toma forma, tiene como finalidad la misión. La corresponsabilidad es para la misión: esto significa que sí se está de verdad reunidos en el nombre de Jesús. Esto arranca a los organismos de participación de involuciones burocráticas y de lógicas mundanas de poder, esto hace fructuoso el reunirse " (IdS 18 a).
En mi ministerio como párroco, ¿qué experiencias de la dinámica del discernimiento eclesial he tenido? ¿Cuáles han sido gratas y cuáles difíciles? ¿Qué enseñanzas saco de ellas?

INFORMATIONAL NOTE
From 29 April to 2 May 2024, the International Meeting of Parish Priests for the Synod will be held in Sacrofano (Rome), reflecting on the theme "How to be a synodal local Church in mission", in view of the second session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
With this note, H.E. Msgr. Luis Marín de San Martín, O.S.A., Undersecretary of the General Secretariat of the Synod, and coordinator of the meeting, provides details to understand its importance.
What is this meeting about and who is promoting it?
It is a meeting for listening, for prayer and discernment promoted by the General Secretariat of the Synod and the Dicastery for the Clergy, together with the Dicastery for Evangelisation (Section for the First Evangelisation and the Particular New Churches) and the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches.
This initiative also responds to the indications of the participants in the first session of the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, who suggested listening more to the voice of parish priests.
What are the objectives?
· To listen to and enhance the synodal experience they are having in their respective parishes and dioceses.
· To enable dialogue and the exchange of experiences and ideas.
· To provide material to be used for the drafting of the Instrumentum laboris for the Second Session, together with the summaries of the consultation coordinated by the Bishops' Conferences and the results of the theological-canonical study carried out by five Working Groups activated by the General Secretariat of the Synod.
How many participants will attend the meeting?
The number of participants (around 200) was determined according to a criterion similar to that used for the election of the members of the Synodal Assembly by the Bishops' Conferences[1]. However, given the requests received from some Bishops' Conferences, the number of parish priests will be higher than 200.
What criteria were used for the selection of the parish priests?
For the selection of participants, the Bishops' Conferences and Eastern Catholic Churches were asked to take the following criteria into account as much as possible:
· Preference for parish priests who have significant experience in the perspective of a synodal Church.
· Promotion of a variety of pastoral backgrounds (rural, urban, specific socio-cultural contexts, etc.).
How is the meeting programme structured? (see attached programme)
The meeting will take place in two major moments.
First moment
In Sacrofano (29 April -1 May):
· General theme: How to be a local synodal Church in mission.
· A theme for each of the three days: The face of the synodal Church; All disciples, all missionaries; Weaving bonds, building community.
· Presentations will be accompanied by five experts: V. David (bishop, Philippines), B. Ndubueze Ejeh (canonist, Nigeria), T. Halík (theologian, Czech Republic), G. Routhier (theologian, Canada) and M.L. Zervino (sociologist, Argentina).
· Method: Conversation in the Spirit.
· Group and plenary work.
· Time for prayer (prayer at the beginning of the day, time for personal prayer, celebration of the Eucharist). In the morning, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the chapel.
Second moment
At the Vatican (2 May):
· Meeting-dialogue with the Holy Father (New Synod Hall).
· Eucharist in St. Peter's Basilica (Altar of the Cathedra).
[1] For the Latin Rite Church - according to the number of members of each Bishops' Conference: 1 representative for Bishops' Conferences with no more than 25 members; 2 representatives for Bishops' Conferences with 26-50 members; 3 for Bishops' Conferences with 51-100 members; 4 for Bishops' Conferences with more than 100 members. In addition, 1 parish priest per continent representing ecclesiastical circumscriptions without an Episcopal Conference. For the Eastern Catholic Churches: 1 representative for each Synod of Bishops or Council of Hierarchs of the Eastern Catholic Churches with no more than 25 members; 2 representatives for each Synod or Council with 26-50 members; 3 representatives for each Synod or Council with more than 50 members.
