Los saludo cordialmente, y siento mucho peso no poder estar con ustedes. Confío al Cardenal Parolin las palabras que hubiera querido dirigirles. أحيّيكم تحيّة حارَّة وأنا آسف جدًّا لأنّي لا أستطيع أن أكون معكم. كلَّفت الكاردينال بارولين بالرّسالة التي كنت أودّ أن أوجّهها إليكم. أودّ أن أقول لكم ”شكرًا“: شكرًا لأنّكم أنشأتم، لأوّل مرّة، جناح الأديان داخل مؤتمر دول الأطراف. وشكرًا لأنّ هذا يدلّ على الرّغبة في العمل معًا. عالم اليوم يحتاج إلى تحالفات ليست ضدّ أحد، بل من أجل الجميع. ومن الملِّح أن تعطي الأديان القُدوَة الحسنة للعمل معًا، دون أن تقع في فخ الخلط بين المعتقدات الدّينيّة: ولا يعمل أحد من أجل مصلحته الخاصّة، أو من أجل مصلحة طرف واحد، بل من أجل مصالح عالمنا. ومن أهمّ هذه المصالح اليوم هي السّلام والمناخ.
