Pubblichiamo di seguito il Messaggio che il Santo Padre Francesco ha inviato in occasione della 102a Giornata dei fedeli cattolici tedeschi (Deutsche Katholikentag) che si svolge a Stoccarda, in Germania, dal 25 al 29 maggio 2022 e che ha per motto: “Condividere la vita”:

Liebe Brüder und Schwestern,
von Herzen grüße ich Euch alle, die Ihr anlässlich des 102. Katholikentags in Stuttgart zusammengekommen seid, um Gott die Ehre zu geben und die Freude des Evangeliums gemeinsam zu bezeugen.
„Leben teilen.“ So lautet das Leitwort dieser Tage. Gott ist der Schöpfer und Urheber allen Lebens. Er hat dem Menschen seinen Lebensatem eingehaucht. Vielfach und auf vielerlei Weise teilt er sein göttliches Leben mit den Menschen und in seinem Sohn Jesus Christus erreicht dieses „Leben teilen“ Gottes seinen unüberbietbaren Höhepunkt: Er teilt unser irdisches Leben, um uns an seinem göttlichen Leben teilhaben zu lassen.
Er steigt dabei bis in die tiefsten Tiefen unseres Menschseins hinab. Den Armen und Leidenden gilt seine besondere Liebe, ja, er identifiziert sich mit ihnen (vgl. Mt 25). So sind wir in diesen Tagen mit unseren Gedanken bei den Menschen in der Ukraine und wir beten für alle Menschen, deren Leben bedroht und beeinträchtigt ist, für alle, die sich nach jener Fülle des Lebens sehnen, die nur der Herr geben kann. Beten wir um seinen Frieden!
Jesus teilt uns Menschen nicht nur etwas mit, er schenkt uns alles: sich selbst. Er gibt sein Leben für uns. »Da er die Seinen liebte, die in der Welt waren, liebte er sie bis zur Vollendung« (Joh 13,1). Entsprechend ergeht auch an uns sein Auftrag, nicht nur für uns selber zu leben, sondern unser Leben einzusetzen für Gott und unsere Mitmenschen. Solche Hingabe des eigenen Lebens kann vielfältige Formen annehmen. Ich denke etwa an Mütter oder Väter, die ganz für ihre Kinder da sind, an die vielen Menschen, die im kirchlichen Dienst oder in sozialen und karitativen Berufen das eigene Leben hintanstellen, um anderen zu dienen und beizustehen. Gerade auch in den Krisen unserer Zeit dürfen wir Gott sei Dank erleben, wie groß die Bereitschaft vieler ist, für andere auch Opfer zu bringen. Keiner kann sich selber retten. Wir sitzen alle in demselben Boot. Es ist deshalb unabdingbar, dass wir ein Bewusstsein dafür entwickeln, dass wir alle Kinder des einen Vaters sind, Brüder und Schwestern; dass wir alle das eine Haus bewohnen, das uns gemeinsam anvertraut ist; dass eins vom anderen lebt und wir gar nicht umhinkönnen, unser Leben miteinander zu teilen. Nur gemeinsam kommen wir voran. Wenn jeder das gibt, was er zu geben hat, wird das Leben aller reicher werden und schön! Was Gott uns schenkt, schenkt er uns immer auch, um es mit anderen zu teilen und es für sie fruchtbar zu machen.
Der heilige Martin, der Patron der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart, ist uns in dieser Hinsicht ein leuchtendes Vorbild. Indem er seinen Mantel teilte, schenkte er dem frierenden Bettler nicht nur lebensrettende Wärme, sondern auch menschliche Anerkennung und Wertschätzung. Alle, die den Namen Jesu Christi tragen, sind gerufen, dem Beispiel des Heiligen zu folgen und jene an unseren Mitteln und Möglichkeiten teilhaben zu lassen, die der Hilfe bedürfen. Gehen wir wachsam durch das Leben und wir werden rasch erkennen, wo wir gebraucht werden.
Schließlich möchte ich noch einen weiteren Aspekt des Miteinander-Teilens ins Bewusstsein rufen: Es ist nämlich nicht nur so, dass jeder – auch der Ärmste – etwas hat, was er anderen weiterschenken kann. Es gilt auch umgekehrt, dass ein jeder – auch der Reichste – einen Mangel an etwas hat und deshalb der Gaben seiner Mitmenschen bedarf. Etwas von anderen anzunehmen ist manchmal schwieriger, als etwas zu geben, weil es ein Eingeständnis der eigenen Unvollkommenheit beinhaltet. Petrus musste mit einiger Mühe bei der Fußwaschung lernen, den Dienst seines Meisters anzunehmen. Bitten auch wir um die Demut, etwas von anderen annehmen zu können.
Die selige Jungfrau Maria ist ein Beispiel für diese demütige Haltung Gott gegenüber, die alles von ihm erhofft und Voraussetzung dafür ist, dass er uns mit seinen Gaben beschenken kann. Sie erbittet und erwartet inmitten der Apostel den Heiligen Geist und sie bittet auch heute an unserer Seite und mit uns um diese Gabe aller Gaben.
In diesem Sinne schließe ich Euch in diesen Tagen besonders in mein Gebet mit ein. Vergesst bitte nicht, auch für mich zu beten! Von Herzen wünsche ich Euch allen einen schönen Katholikentag.

Cari fratelli e sorelle,
saluto di cuore tutti voi, che vi siete riuniti a Stoccarda in occasione del 102° Katholikentag per rendere onore a Dio e testimoniare insieme la gioia del Vangelo.
“Condividere la vita”. È il motto di queste giornate. Dio è il Creatore e l’Artefice di tutta la vita. Ha insufflato nell’uomo il suo alito di vita. Spesso e in molti modi condivide la sua vita divina con l’uomo, e nel Figlio Gesù Cristo questo “condividere la vita” di Dio raggiunge il suo culmine insuperabile: Egli condivide la nostra vita terrena per consentirci di partecipare alla sua vita divina.
Per questo scende nel più profondo della nostra umanità. Ai poveri e ai sofferenti è rivolto il suo amore particolare, addirittura si identifica con loro (cfr. Mt 25). Così, in questi giorni con il nostro pensiero siamo vicini alle persone in Ucraina e preghiamo per tutti gli uomini, la cui vita è minacciata e condizionata, per tutti coloro che anelano alla pienezza di vita che solo il Signore può dare. Imploriamo la sua pace!
Gesù non solo condivide qualcosa con noi uomini, ma ci dona tutto: se stesso. Egli dà la propria vita per noi. “Dopo aver amato i suoi che erano nel mondo, li amò sino alla fine” (Gv 13, 1). In modo analogo ci viene rivolto il suo mandato di non vivere solo per noi stessi, ma di dedicare la nostra vita a Dio e al prossimo. Questo dono della propria vita può assumere molteplici forme. Penso per esempio alle madri o ai padri che si dedicano totalmente ai figli, alle molte persone che nel servizio ecclesiale o nelle professioni sociali o caritative mettono la propria vita all’ultimo posto per servire e assistere gli altri. Anche nelle crisi attuali, ringraziando Dio, possiamo constatare quanto è grande la disponibilità di tanti a fare sacrifici anche per gli altri. Nessuno può salvarsi da solo. Siamo tutti seduti nella stessa barca. Per questo è imprescindibile che sviluppiamo la consapevolezza che siamo tutti figli dell’unico Padre, fratelli e sorelle; che abitiamo tutti la stessa casa, che è affidata a tutti noi insieme; che una cosa vive dell’altra e che non possiamo fare a meno di condividere la nostra vita. Solo insieme andiamo avanti. Se ognuno dà ciò che ha da offrire, la vita di tutti diventerà più ricca e bella! Quello che Dio ci dona, ce lo dona anche e sempre perché lo dividiamo con gli altri e lo rendiamo fecondo per gli altri.
San Martino, patrono della diocesi di Rottenburg-Stuttgart, da questo punto di vista è per noi uno fulgido esempio. Dividendo il suo mantello non donò al mendicante che aveva freddo solo il calore capace di salvare la vita, ma anche riconoscimento e apprezzamento umani. Tutti coloro che portano il nome di Gesù Cristo sono chiamati a seguire l’esempio del santo e a rendere partecipi dei nostri mezzi e delle nostre possibilità quanti hanno bisogno di aiuto. Siamo vigili mentre percorriamo la vita e vedremo molto presto dove c’è bisogno di noi.
Infine vorrei ricordare un altro aspetto del condividere con gli altri: di fatto, non solo tutti – anche il più povero – hanno qualcosa che possono donare agli altri. È vero anche il contrario, cioè che tutti – anche il più ricco – mancano di qualcosa e quindi hanno bisogno dei doni delle altre persone. Accettare qualcosa dagli altri a volte è più difficile che donare qualcosa, poiché ciò implica l’ammissione della propria imperfezione. Pietro dovette imparare con fatica ad accettare il servizio del suo Maestro durante la lavanda dei piedi. Imploriamo anche noi l’umiltà di riuscire ad accettare qualcosa dagli altri.
La Beata Vergine Maria è un esempio di questo atteggiamento umile verso Dio, che spera tutto da lui e che è il presupposto perché egli possa offrirci i suoi doni. Ella implora e attende in mezzo agli apostoli lo Spirito Santo, e ancora oggi implora al nostro fianco e con noi questo dono tra i doni.
In tal senso, in questi giorni vi includo in modo particolare nella mia preghiera. Per favore, non dimenticatevi di pregare anche per me! Di cuore auguro a tutti voi un bel Katholikentag!

Dear brothers and sisters
I warmly greet all of you who have gathered in Stuttgart on the occasion of the 102nd Katholikentag to honour God and to bear witness together to the joy of the Gospel.
"Sharing life". That is the motto of these days. God is the Creator and Maker of all life. He has breathed his breath of life into humanity. Often, and in many ways, he shares his divine life with humanity, and in his Son Jesus Christ this "sharing of life" of God reaches its unsurpassable apex: he shares our earthly life to enable us to participate in his divine life.
That is why he descends into the depths of our humanity. He addresses his special love to the poor and suffering; he even identifies himself with them (cf. Mt 25). Thus, in these days, we are close to the people in Ukraine in our thoughts, and we pray for all people whose lives are threatened and affected, for all those who yearn for the fullness of life that only the Lord can give. We implore his peace!
Jesus not only shares something with us humans, he gives us everything: himself. He gives his life for us. "Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end" (John 13: 1). In a similar way, his mandate is addressed to us not to live only for ourselves, but to dedicate our lives to God and neighbour. This gift of one's life can take many forms. I am thinking for example of mothers or fathers who dedicate themselves fully to their children, of the many people who in church service or in social or charitable professions put their lives after all else in order to serve and assist others. Even in the current crises, thank God, we can see how great is the willingness of so many to make sacrifices for others. No one is saved alone. We are all sitting in the same boat. That is why it is imperative that we develop the awareness that we are all children of the one Father, brothers and sisters; that we all inhabit the same house, which is entrusted to all of us together; that one lives from the other and that we cannot help but share our lives. Only together do we move forward. If everyone gives what they have to offer, everyone's life will become richer and more beautiful! What God gives us, he also and always gives us so that we will share it with others and make it fruitful for others.
Saint Martin, patron of the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, is a shining example for us in this respect. By sharing his cloak, he did not only give the cold beggar life-saving warmth, but also human recognition and appreciation. All who bear the name of Jesus Christ are called to follow the saint's example and to share our means and possibilities with those in need. Let us be watchful as we go through life, and we will very soon see where we are needed.
Finally, I would like to mention another aspect of sharing with others: in fact, not only does everyone - even the poorest - have something they can give to others. The opposite is also true, namely that everyone - even the richest - lacks something and therefore needs other people's gifts. Accepting something from others is sometimes more difficult than giving something, since this implies admitting one's own imperfection. Peter had to learn the hard way to accept his Master's service during the washing of the feet. Let us also implore the humility of being able to accept something from others.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is an example of this humble attitude towards God, hoping for everything from him, an attitude which is the prerequisite for him to offer us his gifts. She implored and awaited the Holy Spirit in the midst of the apostles, and still today, with us and by our side, she implores this gift among gifts.
In this sense, I include you in a special way in my prayer these days. Please do not forget to pray for me too! With all my heart I wish you all a good Katholikentag!
