NELLE LITANIE IN ONORE DI SAN GIUSEPPE

E.mo Signore,
nel centocinquantesimo anniversario della dichiarazione di San Giuseppe quale patrono della Chiesa universale, il Santo Padre Francesco ha reso nota la Lettera Apostolica Patris corde, con l’intento di «accrescere l’amore verso questo grande Santo, per essere spinti a implorare la sua intercessione e per imitare le sue virtù e il suo slancio».
In questa luce è parso opportuno aggiornare le Litanie in onore di San Giuseppe, approvate nel 1909 dalla Sede Apostolica (cf. Acta Apostolicae Sedis 1 [1909] 290-292), integrandovi sette invocazioni attinte dagli interventi dei Papi che hanno riflettuto su aspetti della figura del Patrono della Chiesa universale. Sono le seguenti: «Custos Redemptoris» (cf. San Giovanni Paolo II, Esort. Ap. Redemptoris custos); «Serve Christi» (cf. San Paolo VI, omelia del 19.3.1966, citata in Redemptoris custos n. 8 e Patris corde n. 1); «Minister salutis» (San Giovanni Crisostomo, citato in Redemptoris custos, n. 8); «Fulcimen in difficultatibus» (cf. Francesco, Lett. Ap. Patris corde, prologo); «Patrone exsulum, afflictorum, pauperum» (Patris corde, n. 5).
Le nuove invocazioni sono state presentate al Santo Padre Francesco che ne ha approvato l’integrazione nelle Litanie di San Giuseppe, come nel testo allegato alla presente Lettera.
Sarà compito delle Conferenze dei Vescovi disporre la traduzione delle Litanie nelle lingue di loro competenza e pubblicarle; tali traduzioni non avranno bisogno di conferma della Sede Apostolica. Secondo il loro prudente giudizio, le Conferenze dei Vescovi potranno anche introdurre, al luogo opportuno e conservando il genere letterario, altre invocazioni con le quali San Giuseppe è particolarmente onorato nei loro Paesi.

Excellence,
à l'occasion du cent cinquantième anniversaire de la déclaration de saint Joseph comme patron de l'Église universelle, le Saint-Père François a publié la lettre apostolique Patris corde, dans l'intention "de faire grandir l’amour envers ce grand saint, pour être poussés à implorer son intercession et pour imiter ses vertus et son élan".
Dans cette optique, il a semblé opportun de mettre à jour les Litanies en l'honneur de saint Joseph, approuvées en 1909 par le Siège apostolique (cf. Acta Apostolicae Sedis 1 [1909] 290-292), en y ajoutant sept invocations tirées des interventions des Papes qui ont réfléchi sur certains aspects de la figure du Patron de l'Église universelle. Ce sont les suivants : «Custos Redemptoris» (cf. St Jean-Paul II, Exhortation apostolique Redemptoris custos) ; «Serve Christi» (cf. St Paul VI, homélie du 19.3.1966, citée dans Redemptoris custos n. 8 et Patris corde n. 1) ; «Minister salutis» (St Jean Chrysostome, cité dans Redemptoris custos, n. 8) ; «Fulcimen in difficultatibus» (cf. François, Lett. Ap. Patris corde, prologue) ; «Patrone exsulum, afflictorum, pauperum» (Patris corde, n. 5).
Les nouvelles invocations ont été présentées au Saint Père François qui a approuvé leur intégration dans les Litanies de Saint Joseph, comme dans le texte joint à cette Lettre.
Il appartiendra aux Conférences épiscopales de faire traduire les Litanies dans les langues de leur compétence et de les publier ; ces traductions n'auront pas besoin de la confirmation du Siège Apostolique. Selon leur jugement prudent, les Conférences épiscopales pourront également introduire, à un endroit approprié et en préservant le genre littéraire, d'autres invocations par lesquelles saint Joseph est particulièrement honoré dans leurs pays.

ON SOME NEW INVOCATIONS
IN THE LITANY IN HONOUR OF SAINT JOSEPH

Your Excellency
on the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, published the Apostolic Letter Patris corde, with the aim «to increase our love for this great saint, to encourage us to implore his intercession and to imitate his virtues and his zeal».
In this light it appeared opportune to update the Litany in honour of Saint Joseph, approved by the Apostolic See in 1909 (cf. Acta Apostolicae Sedis 1 [1909] 290-292), by integrating seven new invocations drawn from the interventions of the Popes who have reflected on aspects of the figure of the Patron of the Universal Church. They are as follows: «Custos Redemptoris» (cf. Saint John Paul II, Ap. Exhort. Redemptoris custos); «Serve Christi» (cf. Saint Paul VI, Homily of 19.3.1966, quoted in Redemptoris custos n. 8 and Patris corde n. 1); «Minister salutis» (Saint John Chrysostom, quoted in Redemptoris custos, n. 8); «Fulcimen in difficultatibus» (cf. Francis, Ap. Let. Patris corde, prologue); «Patrone exsulum, afflictorum, pauperum» (Patris corde, n. 5).
The new invocations were presented to the Holy Father, Pope Francis, who approved their integration into the Litany of Saint Joseph, as found in the text attached to this letter.
It will be the responsibility of the Episcopal Conferences to see to the translation and publication of the Litany in the languages which are within their competency; these translations do not require the confirmation of the Apostolic See. According to their prudential judgement Episcopal Conferences can also introduce other invocations by which Saint Joseph is honoured in their countries. Such additions should be made in the proper place and preserve the literary genre of the Litany.

zum einhundertfünfzigsten Jahrestag der Erhebung des heiligen Josef zum Schutzpatron der ganzen Kirche hat der Heilige Vater Franziskus das Apostolische Schreiben Patris corde veröffentlicht, um „die Liebe zu diesem großen Heiligen zu fördern und einen Anstoß zu geben, ihn um seine Fürsprache anzurufen und seine Tugenden und seine Tatkraft nachzuahmen“.
Dementsprechend erschien es angebracht, die Litanei zu Ehren des heiligen Josef, die 1909 vom Apostolischen Stuhl approbiert wurde (vgl. Acta Apostolicae Sedis 1 [1909] 290-292), durch Hinzufügung von sieben Anrufungen zu aktualisieren. Sie sind Schriften von Päpsten entnommen, die über Aspekte der Gestalt des Patrons der Universalkirche nachgedacht haben, und lauten wie folgt: „Custos Redemptoris“ (vgl. Hl. Die neuen Anrufungen wurden dem Heiligen Vater Franziskus vorgelegt, der ihre Einfügung in die Litanei des heiligen Josef genehmigte, wie im beiliegenden Text ersichtlich.
Es kommt den Bischofskonferenzen zu, für die Übersetzung der Litanei in die Sprachen ihres Zuständigkeitsbereiches zu sorgen und sie zu veröffentlichen; diese Übersetzungen bedürfen nicht der Bestätigung des Apostolischen Stuhls. Nach ihrem umsichtigen Urteil können die Bischofskonferenzen an geeigneter Stelle und unter Wahrung der literarischen Gattung auch andere Anrufungen einfügen, mit denen der heilige Josef in ihren Ländern besonders geehrt wird.

En el ciento cincuenta aniversario de la declaración de san José como patrón de la Iglesia universal, el Santo Padre Francisco ha publicado la Carta Apostólica Patris corde, con la intención de «que crezca el amor a este gran Santo, para ser impulsados a implorar su intercesión e imitar sus virtudes, como también su resolución».
En este sentido, ha parecido oportuno actualizar las Letanías en honor de san José, aprobadas en 1909 por la Sede Apostólica (cf. Acta Apostolicae Sedis 1 [1909] 290-292), añadiendo siete invocaciones tomadas de las intervenciones de los Papas que han reflexionado sobre algunos aspectos de la figura del Patrón de la Iglesia universal. Son las siguientes: «Custos Redemptoris» (cf. san Juan Pablo II, Exhort. Apost. Redemptoris custos); «Serve Christi» (cf. san Pablo VI, homilía del 19-III-1966, citada en Redemptoris custos n. 8 y Patris corde n. 1); «Minister salutis» (san Juan Crisóstomo, citado en Redemptoris custos, n. 8); «Fulcimen in difficultatibus» (cf. Las nuevas invocaciones han sido presentadas al Santo Padre Francisco, quien ha aprobado su inserción en las Letanías de san José, como en el texto adjunto a esta Carta.
Corresponderá a las Conferencias de Obispos traducir las Letanías a las lenguas de su competencia y publicarlas; dichas traducciones no necesitarán la confirmatio de la Sede Apostólica. Según su prudente criterio, las Conferencias de los Obispos podrán insertar también, en el lugar apropiado y conservando el género literario, otras invocaciones con las que se honra particularmente a san José en sus países.
