Poverty in Rome: “The Crystal City” – A Point of View
On Wednesday 12 November, at 12.00, Cardinal BALDO REINA, Vicar of His Holiness for the diocese of Rome, ROBERTO GUALTIERI, Mayor of Rome, MASSIMILIANO MASELLI, Assessor for Social Policy of the Lazio Region and GIUSTINO TRINCIA, Director of Diocesan Caritas, will present the eighth edition of the “Poverty in Rome: a point of view” Report.
The press conference will take place in the Ugo Poletti Hall of the Vicariate of Rome, and will be livestreamed on the YouTube channel of the diocese of Rome and on the Facebook page of diocesan Caritas.
On Wednesday 12 November, at 12.00, the eighth edition of the “Poverty in Rome: a point of view” Report, produced by Diocesan Caritas, will be presented. The volume, rich in infographics and tables, documents the numerous initiatives promoted by the parishes of Rome during 2024. Data on food aid, the distribution of shopping vouchers, solidarity shops, social canteens, healthcare and social support.
In addition to the economic and social scenario of the capital, the report, entitled “The Crystal City”, also includes two in-depth studies on the presence of the Peruvian community in Rome and the loneliness of elderly people.
The meeting will take place in the Ugo Poletti Hall of the Vicariate of Rome (Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano, 6), only for journalists, and will be livestreamed on the Diocese of Rome YouTube channel and on the Facebook page of diocesan Caritas. There will be interventions from Cardinal BALDO REINA, Vicar of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome; ROBERTO GUALTIERI, Mayor of Rome; MASSIMILIANO MASELLI, Assessor for Social Policy for the Lazio Region; and GIUSTINO TRINCIA, Director of Caritas Rome. The meeting will be moderated by ALBERTO COLAIACOMO, coordinator of the drafting of the Report.
The participants will be offered a copy of the book, along with a summary sheet.
