Opening of the “San Francesco e Santa Chiara” Nursery
inside the Vatican Walls – a structure to serve families

To meet the needs of Vatican employees, Vatican City State Governorate has promoted the opening of a nursery, as an educational and social service, to help families in the raising and integral formation of children.

The new service, the first of its kind inside the Leonine walls, will start operating next spring and will be able to accommodate 30 little ones. It will be a structured, planned and organized space in which the children will have the opportunity to grow, share and participate in activities, thanks to an educational team, which will help stimulate knowledge, skills and autonomy at every stage of the children's development.

The facility, which has been entrusted to the protection of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, will be located in a building in Via San Luca, inside the Vatican.

The didactic and recreational-educational service, designed for children from 3 to 36 months, from Monday to Friday, from 07.30 to 18.30, will be in two languages: Italian and English.
