Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, C.S.C., Archbishop emeritus of Dhaka, Bangladesh, was born on October 1st, 1943 in Padrishibpur, in the diocese of Chittagong. He belongs to the Congregation of the Holy Cross and was ordained a priest on October 8th, 1972.
Elected first Bishop of Rajshahi on May 21st, 1990, he proceeded to organize the new diocese.
On February 3rd, 1995, he was transferred to the see of Chittagong, the second largest in the country.
On November 25th, 2010, he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as coadjutor bishop of Dhaka, succeeding to the metropolitan see, on October 22nd, 2011.
Since December 2011 he has served as president of the Bishops' Conference of Bangladesh, and in that capacity he participated in the Thrid Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the family in October 2014.
He is Bangladesh's first cardinal.
Created and proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Francis in the consistory of 19 November 2016, titular church of Nostra Signora del SS. Sacramento e Santi Martiri Canadesi.
