Appointment of bishop of Concepción, Paraguay

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Cristino Ramos González, of the clergy of San Pedro, until now parish priest of San José Obrero in Choré, as bishop of the diocese of Concepción, Paraguay.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Cristino Ramos González was born on 16 November 1975 in Arroyos y Esteros, Department of Cordillera). He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Pontifical Catholic Argentine University “Santa Maria de los Buenos Aires” and a licentiate in pastoral sciences from the Higher Institute of Theology of the Catholic University of “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción”.

He was ordained a priest on 7 September 2002, and was incardinated into the diocese of San Pedro.

After ordination, he first held the roles of representative of the rural area of the parish of San Pedro Apostól (2002-2008), diocesan assessor for youth pastoral ministry (2002-2009), chancellor of the diocese (2002-2011), member of the Presbyteral Council (2003-2011 and 2020-2026) and of the College of Consultors (2005-2007), national assessor for Youth Pastoral Ministry (2006-2008), assessor for Youth Pastoral Ministry of the Region of Cono Sur (2007-2010), and parish priest of San José Obrero in Choré (2009-2010). He studied biblical theology at the San Pablo Catholic University of Cochabamba, Bolivia, at the Ebernard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen, Germany, and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and collaborated in the parish of Sant’Alfonso Maria de’ Liguori in Rome (2016-2019).

To date, he has served as spiritual assessor for diocesan Biblical Pastoral Ministry (since 2020), parish priest of San José Obrero in Choré (since 2020), and pastoral vicar of the diocese of San Pedro (since 2022).
