Appointment of bishop of Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Peter Suphot Roeksujarit, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Bangkok, until now director of the Baan Phu Waan Pastoral Centre in Sampran and episcopal vicar for the staff of the archdiocese of Bangkok, as bishop of the diocese of Chiang Mai.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Peter Suphot Roeksujarit was born on 2 November 1961 in Ayutthaya, in the archdiocese of Bangkok. He studied philosophy and theology at the Lux Mundi National Major Seminary in Sampran.

He was ordained a priest on 3 June 1990 for the clergy of the archdiocese of Bangkok.

After ordination, he studied social communication at the Centre International de recherche et de comunication audiovisuelle “Expression de la foi” in Lyon, France (1991), and went on to hold the offices of director of the Catholic Media Department of the archdiocese of Bangkok (1992-2012) and parish priest of Saint Louis in Bangkok (2012-2017) and of Saint Raphael in Bangkok (2017-2021). He is currently director of the Baan Phu Waan National Pastoral Centre in Sampran (since 2021), episcopal vicar for the staff of the archdiocese of Bangkok, and chaplain of the Carmelite Sisters in Sampran.
