Appointment of apostolic nuncio in Syria

The Holy Father has appointed Archbishop Luigi Roberto Cona, titular of Sala Consilina, until now apostolic nuncio in El Salvador, as apostolic nuncio in Syria.

 

Resignation and appointment of bishop of Florida, Uruguay

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Florida, Uruguay, presented by Bishop Martín Pablo Pérez Scremini.

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Alfonso María Bauer Ormazábal, S.D.B., until now Master of Novices of the Salesian Novitiate of Montevideo, as bishop of Florida, Uruguay.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Alfonso María Bauer Ormazábal, S.D.B., was born in Montevideo on 23 July 1968. He attended a courage for formators at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome, and the María, Madre de los Consagrados School for Formators in Córdoba, Argentina. He was awarded a licentiate in spiritual theology, specializing in the formation of formators and in vocational animation, at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome.

He was ordained a priest on 16 November 1996.

He has held the following offices: pastoral officer and director of the Paiva Institute (1997–2002) and of the House of Formation (2003–2008) in the diocese of Florida; community director (2011–2017), director of the Institute (2011–2013), in charge of aspirants and pre-novices (2013–2017) and parish priest (2017) at the Villa Colón community of the Colegio Pío; delegate for Youth and Vocational Ministry (2004–2006); delegate for Vocational Ministry (2006–2008); delegate for Formation (2008); provincial vicar (2012–2017) and provincial counsellor (2003–2008 and 2012–2017); provincial (2018–2024); vice-president (2018) and president (2022) of the Council of Religious of Uruguay; and vicar for Consecrated Life of the metropolitan archdiocese of Montevideo (since 2023).

 

Appointment of bishop of Sikasso, Mali

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Noël Bernard Coulibaly, of the clergy of the diocese of Sikasso, Mali, until now bursar and coordinator of diocesan Caritas, as bishop of the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Noël Bernard Coulibaly was born on 17 December 1976 in Niono, in the diocese of Sikasso, Mali. He studied philosophy and obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology at the Saint Augustin Major Seminary in Bamako.

He was ordained a priest on 6 July 2002 for the diocese of Sikasso.

After ordination, he first served as deputy parish priest of Notre Dame de Fatima in Sanzana, diocese of Sikasso (2002-2003); administrator (2003-2004) and parish priest (2004-2006) of Notre Dame de Lourdes Cathedral in Sikasso (2003-2004). He was awarded a master’s degree in local development engineering at the Université Catholique de Lyon, and collaborated at the parish of Saint Christophe Lès Annonay in the diocese of Viviers, France (2006-2009). He is currently bursar of the diocese of Sikasso and coordinator of diocesan Caritas (since 2009).
