Today, 5 March 2026, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received in Audience the Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency Ms Mary Jeannie May Simon, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.

During the cordial talks at the Secretariat of State, appreciation was expressed for the good existing relations between the Holy See and Canada, and in particular, satisfaction was expressed for the fruits of the path of mutual understanding begun by Pope Francis.

The conversation then moved on to topics of common interest at the regional and international levels, with particular attention paid to the commitment to peace among peoples.
