Today, at the Grotto of Lourdes in the Vatican Gardens, the Holy Father paid homage to Mary Immaculate, on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick.
The following are the Holy Father’s words:
Words of the Holy Father
Today, on this day dedicated to the sick, we wish to pray in communion with all those who suffer in the world. We pray for you. I thank you sincerely for having made this effort to come and accompany us in this moment of prayer, here before our Mother, Mary, on the liturgical memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes.
It is a most beautiful day that reminds us of the closeness of Mary, our Mother, who always accompanies us and who teaches us a great deal: the meaning of suffering, love, and delivering one’s life into the hands of the Lord.
So, let us also ask for the Lord’s blessing for you, for all the sick on this day and always, and for all those who accompany them: the medical sciences, doctors, nurses, and the many people who are close to them, especially at the most difficult times.
Let us pray together: Hail Mary…
[Blessing]
Thank you!
May God be with you always.
