Resignation of bishop of Popokabaka, Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Popokabaka, Democratic Republic of the Congo, presented by Bishop Bernard Marie Fansaka Biniama.

 

Appointment of coadjutor archbishop of Mombasa, Kenya

The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Dominic Kimengich, until now bishop of Eldoret, as coadjutor archbishop of Mombasa, Kenya.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Dominic Kimengich was born on 23 April 1961 in Kituro. He studied philosophy at Saint Augustine’s Major Seminary, and theology at Saint Thomas Aquinas Senior Seminary in Nairobi.

He was ordained a priest on 14 September 1986.

After ordination, he first served as parish vicar in Ndana (1986-1988) and parish priest of Kipsaraman (1988-1993). He was awarded a licentiate and a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, and went on to serve as rector of Saint Joseph Junior Seminary in Molo (1997-2001), vicar general of the diocese of Nakuru (2011-2007), and rector of Saint Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo (2007-2008).

On 20 March 2010 he was elected to the titular see of Tanaramusa and appointed auxiliary bishop of Lodwar. On 5 March 2011 he was appointed bishop of Lodwar and, on 16 November 2019, bishop of Eldoret.

 

Appointment of auxiliary bishop of San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Trinidad Antonio Márquez Guerrero, of the clergy of the diocese of San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, canon of the cathedral and judicial vicar, as auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Melzi.

Curriculum vitae

Msgr. Márquez Guerrero was born on 12 November 1965 in San Julián, diocese of San Juan de los Lagos. He obtained a licentiate in canon law from the Universidad Pontificia de México.

He was ordained a priest on 27 April 1996, and incardinated in the diocese of San Juan de los Lagos.

He has held the following offices: formator at the minor seminary, judge and promoter of justice of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal, professor of the major seminary, chancellor and collaborator in the parishes of San Juan Bautista and Espíritu Santo.

He is currently member and moderator of the Presbyteral Council.

 

Appointments to the Vatican Apostolic Library

The Holy Father has appointed Dr. Eleonora Giampiccolo and Dr. Simona De Crescenzo, hitherto officials of the Vatican Apostolic Library, as Curator of the Numismatic Cabinet and Curator of Graphics of the aforementioned institution, respectively, with effect from 1 February 2026.
